Vittorio Coco, 64, born in Messina, Italy, is currently the Manager for Public Relations and International Programmes of the Sri Lanka Italy Friendship Society (Colombo, Sri Lanka) and the promoter of the UNESCO Club Sri Lanka Cultural Triangle.

Here are some highlights from his international experiences in the last 30 years

in 2010

• worked as Senior Advisor for International Public Relations at the Institute for Regional Strategies, Burgas, Bulgaria
• promoted the establishment of Association of Bay of Burgas, on the Black Sea, among the 4 Municipalities of Burgas, Nessebar, Pomorie and Sozopol
• created and managed the Black Sea Italian Desk in Burgas (BG)
• operated as international Senior Advisor in the ZOD consortium, the national operator of SuperBurgas Project

in 2009

• promoted the signature of Protocol of Understanding between IARA (Bulgarian Agency for Fisheries) and Fisheries Department of Region of Sicily
• led a Bulgarian delegation of IARA to Fisheries International Conference in Agrigento, Sicily (Italy)
• led a Sicilian delegation from Mazara del Vallo, largest fishing port of Italy, to Black Sea ports of Balchick, Varna, Burgas, Nessebar and Sozopol.

in 2008

• was Director for external relations of Italian company Investinbulgaria, based in Sofia, Bulgaria

in 2007

• was US Coordinator of the Sicily-USA Partnership Project, with offices in Palermo and Chicago IL (USA)

in 2006-2005

• created and directed the Italian Mobile Desk in USA in combination with the multi-year travelling exhibition "In Stabiano" on the Roman Villas of Ancient Stabiae (Little Rock AR, Reno NV, San Diego CA)

in 2005-2003

• was in charge of special projects at the World Trade Center Brescia (IT)
• was organizer and Coordinator of international workshops in 4 Italian cities on goods and service procurement with major United Nations Agencies
• proposed to UN Habitat and got started a project to rebuild a village in Sri Lanka destroyed by tsunami
• was a Founder Member of International Institute for Sustainable Development, (Brescia (IT)

in 2003-2000

• founded and directed the World Trade Center Messina (IT)
• operated as Expert on territorial marketing for the Mayor and the Province President of Messina (IT) with offices in Messina and New York
• led one year training course in international marketing at Messina' Chamber of Commerce for Mondimpresa, agency of Confcommercio and Confindustria for internationalization of economy

in 1999-1994

• was based in Karachi, PAK, as foreign consultant for Industial Development Agency of Pakistan Government
• was Founder and Director of Pakistan Italy Friendship Association

1993-1991

• was posted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Italian Consulate in Karachi (PAK) as Visa Officer with functions of Commercial Attache' and later resigned to start consultancy work for Italian Banks and companies searching for investment opportunities in Pakistan

1991-1981

• founded and directed the Italian Republican Party USA, a branch of PRI, led in Italy by late Senator Giovanni Spadolini, former Prime Minister of Italy
• founded and directed in New York (USA) the Mezzogiorno 2000 Committee
• proposed and organized at the United Nations Headquarters in New York (USA) the First International conference for American investors in Southern Italy, under patronage of the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations
• was posted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs as administrative assistant in the Permanent Mission of Italy to United Nations in New York (USA)
